What next for Nepal?

07.05.2026 08:30 - 09:30English

Two months after Nepal’s elections, and the Gen Z–driven protests and the dynamic campaigning period that shaped them, we ask what is next for Nepal?

Janak Bhatta

Deepak Thapa, Director of Social Science Baha, will help answer this question, as well as to analyse the new government’s performance in its first 60 days. He will also explore the key political developments – including shifting alliances and emerging leadership challenges.

Beyond politics, we will also address pressing structural issues facing the country: rising youth unemployment, continued large-scale migration for work and education, and the situation of approximately 1.7 million Nepali migrant workers in the Gulf region – particularly in light of how the Iran war is affecting their safety and livelihoods.

All are welcome, with coffee and croissants served.
