Trump’s First Weeks

The first hundred days of a first-term presidency of a President of the United States are sometimes used as a benchmark to measure the success of a new president.

President Donald J. Trump has spent the first three weeks as POTUS delivering on many of the promises he gave during the election, like a travel ban for citizens from seven predominantly muslim countries, the Global Gag Rule, the wall on the Mexican border and withdrawing the Affordable Care Act and pulling the US out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. In that sense his presidency so far has been a great success.

In this Breakfast Forum we will discuss the consequences of the changes Trump has made to US policy and ask which other changes are yet to come?

Hilmar Langhelle Mjelde
is Senior Researcher at Uni Rokkansenteret. He has a PhD from the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen 2014, and has specialized in US politics. He has commented on this year’s and previous presidential elections for Norwegian media.

Michael Mayer
is Senior Researcher at Norwegian Institute of Defence Studies in Oslo. He researches and lectures in international security policy with particular focus on US foreign and security policy. Mayer has previously written about US foreign policy in Central Asia and the security consequences of climate change.
