Anne K. Bang Professor of Middle Eastern and African Islamic history at the University of Bergen.
Professor Bang is leader of the Research Group Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. She works on various forms of religious change in the Western Indian Ocean in the 19th and 20th centuries. She also work on projects to make available new sources to this history, through mapping and digitising of primary Arabic textual material.
