This guest lecture unpacks paradoxes of vulnerability in relation to the phenomenon and the discursive figure of ‘cancel culture’, especially as it concerns queer and trans activism and academia.

It has become increasingly difficult to differentiate between appropriate critical discussion and the way ‘bad objects’ draw heightened attention in affective platform economies.

Kata Kyrölä draws attention to select examples of ‘cancelation’ within queer and transgender online counter-publics and academia.

This lecture is part of the PhD course ‘Gender, Sexuality and Vulnerability in Theory and Methodology’, hosted through a partnership between the National Research School in Gender Research and the University of Bergen’s Centre for Women’s and Gender Research (SKOK).

The lecture open to all.
