Why do Norway and Denmark need official strategies when Sweden – historically the biggest Scandinavian provider of aid to Africa – does not? How do the interests of Sweden, Denmark and Norway on the continent differ?
Join us for a discussion with Lise Rakner (UiB), Elling Tjønneland (CMI), Anne Mette Kjær (University of Aarhus) and Jan Pettersson (The Expert Group for Aid Studies) as they compare Scandinavian political approaches to Africa.
In 2022 Kjær, Petterson and Tjønneland co-edited a special issue of Forum for Development Studies on parallels, differences and changes in Nordic development aid, and in 2023 they published an article in Danish Foreign Policy Review analysing Scandinavian approaches to partner countries in Africa.
