Policies for Poverty Reduction in a Transformative Green Economy

In this lecture, Enrique Delamonica will discuss how access to a sustainable environment, health and basic social services affects people’s standard of living, emphasising the need for devising policies that promote employment. New jobs should contribute to protecting the environment and producing resources useful for providing equitable social services. Delamonica will also unveil how reduced poverty, social development and increased availability of resources can lead to the realisation of a Transformative Green Economy.

Enrique Delamonica (Senior Statistics Specialist in Child Poverty and Gender Equality / Division of Data, Research and Policy, UNICEF) is a CROP Fellow and visiting researcher at the Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP-UiB/ISSC). He is an economist and political scientist who focuses on the impact of macroeconomic policies on children, poverty-reduction strategies and the analysis of trends in socioeconomic disparities. Delamonica recently returned to the UNICEF headquarters in New York after several years working for UNICEF Nigeria.
